Jan - May 2022

Since the 1963 Buchanan Report, street design has been segregated and movement-orientated, but demands for a more sustainable, and inclusive built environment have been growing. Shared surface streets promise to offer this, using a level surface and reduced street clutter to improve social inclusion, mobility, and reduce vehicle speeds. However, a flaw of this concept is the safety risks for visually impaired individuals. This research report seeks to find a solution to this.
